About
Starting with the work side of life, for the past 26 years I have been an active Realtor, specializing in residential real estate in Sacramento. I have had a broker’s license since finishing college. Prior to entering the real estate industry I was a building contractor focusing on customsingle-family homes and home remodeling. I love working in the residential real estate profession and the years of experience enable me to offer you many tools and services to help with the purchase or sale of your home.
Outside of real estate, my interests are varied. For many years I have been an avid hiker, backpacker, kayaker and bicyclist. The western and eastern Sierras and the Coastal Range are favorites because of their unique beauty and varied challenges. I have participated in many athletic events over the years, some of the most challenging being the Davis Double Century, the Canadian Iron Man Triathlon and the Markleeville Death Ride. Some fun bicycle trips have been the California coastline from the Washington border to Mexico, the Canadian Rockies and portions of Europe. Participating in Eppies Great Race for many years fostered my interest in kayaking, now one of my favorite activities.
Kathleen
I joined Richard in the residential real estate industry as a licensed agent in 2008 after working 30 years in commercial insurance brokerage. Building on existing skills and gaining an understanding of a new professional discipline can be exhilarating and the challenging real estate market we have experienced recently has been a wonderful opportunity to learn the business. The transition from insurance to real estate was relatively easy because both involve working with contracts and a high level of attention to customer service; however, I have found that helping people to buy or sell a home is a whole lot more fun!
It’s very fulfilling when your professional life integrates so well with your personal interests.
Together
We have many compatible interests, hiking, camping, cycling and kayaking plus the “rejuvenation” of our own home, a 1920′s era cottage. We are inspired by everything to do with the process of creating a home . . . . design & construction, color, style, gardening, cooking, we like to learn and do! This Spring/Summer’s project has been to reconfigure our backyard to include a new workshop, raised garden beds and our own backyard orchard.
As long-time members of the Sacramento Natural Foods Coop we support their values and the progression towards fresh, seasonal and organic foods. We also have a strong interest in preservation of open spaces as well as smart growth in our urban areas.
We like to be busy so in our spare time we both do yoga, play the piano, watch foreign films and read. Our three cats, Zoe, Emma and Lily, are our role models for seeking out the simple pleasures.
Life is very special and greeting each day with gratitude is our foundation.
Here are our first box gardens – a good start!
